“There Were Many, Exceedingly Great Many”
When the righteous in paradise-those assured of a glorious resurrection-assembled to greet the Christ during his short ministry among them, they constituted an “innumerable company” (see D&C 138:12). The number of the faithful Saints who lived from the time of Adam to the time when Christ visited the world of the spirits appears to have been appreciably greater than we have generally supposed. Though it is true that the gate is strait and the way of holiness is narrow, the “few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:14), presumably a relative expression, may well total, in real terms, a large number of our Father’s children who will go on to exaltation in the highest heaven. There is no ceiling on the number of saved beings; God desires to save all who will be saved.
