After a much needed rest, or it may have been on the following day, Alma again began to exhort the people of Ammonihah to repentance by declaring unto them the authority of the Priesthood which he held, and which he said was after the Holy Order of the Son of God.
When the Lord God saw that the children of men were capable in and of themselves to distinguish between truth and error, right and wrong, and also that they had the power or ability to choose good or evil, He gave unto them certain commandments which by keeping they would be benefited and blessed. The Lord ordained priests after His Holy Order whose duty it was to instruct, in the things of God, those over whom they were called to preside. Another duty of the priests was to keep their charges continually stirred up unto obedience to the laws and commandments which God had given them. In this way, by preachment and by example, the priests so set apart were able to guide and direct their brethren aright, and always to hold before them the proper manner by which they were "to look forward to His Son for Redemption."
