How is a resurrected body both physical and spiritual?

Thomas R. Valletta

“The word spiritual is used here to describe a condition. A resurrected body is a physical body in a spiritual condition, as contrasted to a mortal body which is also physical but is not in a spiritual condition: mortal bodies are subject to death and contain blood, but resurrected bodies will never die again and are, as President Joseph Fielding Smith explained, ‘quickened by the spirit and not the blood’ (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:284)” (Matthews, A Bible! A Bible! 200; emphasis added).
