“Thou Lovest That Lucre More Than Him”
Of the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve who gave heed to the words of Satan, the scripture says, “they loved Satan more than God” (Moses 5:13). It is not necessarily true that they did not feel a love for God. They may have. But they loved Satan more. And so it is with money, that “filthy lucre” of which the scriptures speak (see Titus 1:11). It isn’t that some members of the faith do not love God. They probably do. They just love this world’s goods more.
