Those called to speak and act in the name of the Lord are careful in their ministry. They have no private agenda, no favorite doctrinas, no special lessons they seek to put forward according to the whim of the moment. Rather, they strive earnestly to be in tune with that Spirit which teaches and shows a person what he or she must do at all times.
They speak the words of Christ, meaning that they speak by the power of the Holy Ghost and thereby make known only that which the Lord would have made known (see 2 Nephi 32:3-5). Thus they answer only the questions that seem appropriate at the time, and deliver that “portion of the word” (Alma 12:9-11; D&C 71:1) which is needful for the edification of those they serve.
