The 2013 chapter summary for Alma 11 states: “The Nephite monetary system is set forth.” Previous editions of the Book of Mormon used the term “coinage,” but in “the text proper, the gold and silver units are referred to as pieces, not coins. … The word coin, of course, claims more than what the text actually says” (Skousen, Analysis of Textual Variants,1812).
