“Alma Had Received His Message from the Angel of the Lord He Returned Speedily”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Alma obeyed with exactness and returned speedily, deserving the miracle that happened next: The Lord had prepared the heart of a rich and influential man (Alma 10:4); he would join the Church, become Alma’s missionary companion, and quickly become a great prophet-leader. Like Alma, Paul, and other “chosen vessels,” Amulek was stopped in his tracks by an angel of God and redirected in the course of his life (Alma 10:7).

The angel had told Amulek to receive into his house this missionary-messenger from God.

A zone leader wrote about the following miraculous incident in his weekly letter to his mission president in Chile: “On Monday we didn’t have anything planned, so we decided to knock at a couple of houses on about every street in our proselyting area. Getting close to the end of the evening, I felt impressed to knock on a certain door. They let us in. We taught a family of six people, five of whom could be baptized. After we finished the discussion, the wife started telling us about a dream she had. She told us that three days before we knocked on their door, she had a dream of two angels appearing to her. When she saw our faces, she almost started crying because ours were the faces of the angels. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach this family.”

Did the Lord not say, “I will go before you?”
