Alma provides a succinct job description of a prophet: to speak plainly by command of God those things revealed by the Spirit. If we are to engage in this kind of communion, then we, too, should fast and pray to know the truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. In that way we can have the gift of prophecy to guide our own lives and bless the lives of our family members.
