What are the “chains of hell”?

Alma later defines the “chains of hell” as being brought “into subjection unto [the devil], … that he might chain you down to everlasting destruction” (Alma 12:6) and as “knowing nothing concerning [God’s] mysteries,” they are, as a consequence, being “taken captive by the devil, and led by his will down to destruction” (Alma 12:11).
