Geography: Zarahemla lies on the west bank of the Sidon. The eastern approach to the city is guarded by the hill Amnihu, east of the Sidon. By Sorenson’s geographic correlation, the Sidon flows down a valley bounded by a mountain range on the east. Thus, Zarahemla’s eastern approach would not be directly from the east but rather from the north on the Sidon’s east side. From Amnihu, sentries could observe approaching troops and use the higher ground to guard that approach to Zarahemla.
Variant: Skousen notes that “upon the hill Amnihu” should read “up on the hill Amnihu.”
