What is an “ignominious death”?

Thomas R. Valletta

Ignominious means “very shameful; reproachful; dishonorable; infamous. To be hanged for a crime is ignominious” (Webster, American Dictionary). Nehor’s “execution took place on the hill Manti, and, from the way which his death is spoken of, we imagine that he was hanged” (Reynolds, Dictionary of the Book of Mormon, 230).
