“Many Did Believe on His Words”
Why would people believe him? How could he seduce so many? Perhaps it was because his system of salvation was so easy, his promise of eternal reward so attractive, his demands so few. He denied prophecy and revelation (see Alma 21:4, 8) and thus found no place for absolute values or absolute truth. Like his counterpart Korihor, his doctrine was “pleasing unto the carnal mind” (Alma 30:53).
