“Understood Not the Words Which He Spake Unto Them”
Obviously the message became understood. It would appear, however, that the first words spoken by the angel were not comprehended. This same expression is used to describe the first two instances in which the risen Lord spoke to the more righteous part of the Nephites: “They understood it not” (3 Nephi 11:3-4).
