The first action on the part of the repatriates after arriving in Zarahemla is to request baptism. They are baptized by Alma who, in like manner, has also escaped from Lamanite bondage. It is instructive that Limhi and his followers request to be baptized prior to their return, “but there was none in the land that had authority from God. And Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant” (Mosiah 21:33). It is also of interest that Ammon’s namesake, the son of Mosiah, would later become, with his brothers, the instrument in the hands of God to return to the Lamanite region and bring thousands of the people into the fold of God.
