Was this Alma’s public introduction to the people and his official and public rise, and Limhi’s decline?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Much information that Mormon does not tell us can be surmised from this verse, in which Mosiah publicly introduces Alma to the people. Modern readers of the Book of Mormon are so familiar with Alma that his immediate public role does not seem surprising, but it should be. In contrast to Alma, Limhi apparently moves into a secondary position in his own community (the city and land of Gideon) even though he had been a king” (Gardner, Second Witness, 3:421).
