Alma's escape started "in the morning" (Mosiah 24:19), but Limhi's escape started in the evening (see Mosiah 22:6). Perhaps this was due to terrain: it might have been impossible for Alma's group to travel in the dark because of mountainous terrain, whereas Limhi's group might have had a stretch of relatively flat land to negotiate before entering the mountains.
