The word of the Lord was fulfilled. The burdens were made light. Again, they were light due to increased strength to bear them, rather than a physical change in the burdens themselves.
The faith of Alma’s people was sufficient that Jehovah could save them. After an unknown amount of time had passed, the Lord declares that they will be delivered on the next day.
