Helam was a “Nephite who lived in the land of Nephi during the reign of king Noah (ca. 147 B.C.). One of the initial converts of Alma1, Helam was ‘one of the first’ to be baptized among the people of king Noah (Mosiah 18:12). … Although the record offers no further information about Helam, it is assumed that he served as an example of devotion and faith” (Largey, Book of Mormon Reference Companion, 326).
