This advice is trustworthy. It is as pertinent today, as it was to Alma's people. From it we may learn how to escape the pitfalls into which they fell. Noah's priests were not men of God; they did not teach His commandments. How different they were from the young Ammonites of whom we later will learn.
Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God and to walk uprightly before him. (Alma 53:21)
Another passage from the Book of Mormon will be instructive here:
And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
In righteousness shalt thou be established; thou shalt be far from oppression for thou shalt not fear, and from terror, for it shall not come near thee.
