At the end of eight days' journey in the wilderness, Alma and his followers came to a beautiful valley. There was an abundance of pure water there, and with its fertile fields and green lowlands, it was a suitable haven for them to make their homes.
The great strength given them by the Lord when they first commenced their journey from Lehi-Nephi now showed itself in the energy with which Alma and his people began to till the soil. They built houses and in many other ways provided for each other's needs. "They did labor exceedingly," are the words the Sacred Record uses to describe their activities. Undoubtedly, they were happy in the lot their lives were now cast.
