The power vested in a monarch to do good is matched only by the power he possesses to do evil. Kings set the moral tone for their nation. In positions of kingship we can list the likes of Melchizedek, the king of Salem, who taught principles of righteousness with such effect that he and his people were caught up to join the city of Enoch (JST, Genesis 14:34); of King Benjamin, who gave the name of Christ to his people and led them in making a sacred covenant to be obedient to all the commands of God (Mosiah 5:5-7). For that matter, Jesus the Savior will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords in the great millennial day.
