How does Gideon’s plan follow the Lord’s teachings regarding revelation?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Limhi’s people were now turning to the Lord with full purpose of heart and putting their trust in him. Their trust is exemplified in their devoted study to obtain deliverance from bondage. (Mosiah 21:36.) The Lord has instructed us to study things out in our minds as part of the revelatory process. (D&C 9:8.) … Gideon, the stalwart defender of righteousness, entered the picture. His study resulted in a plan to pay a tribute of wine to the Lamanites and to escape through a secret pass while they were drunken. The plan worked, and the people of Limhi were delivered from bondage by the hand of the Lord” (Nyman, “Bondage and Deliverance,” 266).
