The confrontation between the two kings appears to place the Lamanite king in the superior position. Limhi is appeasing the Lamanite king. While there are mitigating circumstances (such as the large Lamanite army), it is still unusual for a captive to be in a superior bargaining position in modern times and probably most ancient times as well. It occurs here because Limhi recognizes the legitimate Lamanite assumption that the oath had been broken. The injury caused by breaking the first oath will be healed by the second oath that the Lamanite king now makes to Limhi.
