Abinadi’s “predictions of retribution upon his slayers were literally fulfilled, as Mormon was always careful to point out [see Alma 25:9]. The critical reader may wonder how Abinadi’s words came to be recorded. It is possible that Alma came on the scene in disguise, or it may be that one of his future converts was present and at a later time reported what happened” (Sperry, Book of Mormon Compendium, 311).
