“Having Sealed the Truth of His Words by His Death”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

And so the testator was dead. But the testament lived on. And faith had come to one by hearing the word of God as preached by a legal administrator.

As recorded by Mormon, some time during Abinadi’s sermon a heart was touched and a witness planted as to the truthfulness of his words; a “young man ... believed the words which Abinadi had spoken.”

And because of the power of the word, the power of a single human testimony, the course of events in the Nephite story would never be the same.
