Truly, as Nephi said, “the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center” (1 Nephi 16:2). In the eyes of King Noah, Alma simply added insult to injury: not only had Abinadi delivered a message which tore away his facade and threatened to destroy his craft, but he had gained a convert in the process, another who now sought to give truth a fair hearing.
