Jesus Christ, having taken upon Himself a body of flesh and blood, thereby, became subject to all the pains and temptations that mortals endure. How could He know our grief unless He partook of them; and how could He measure our temptations unless He withstood them, Himself? Our Father in Heaven knew this, and the Son knowing it, suffered pain and anguish, allowing temptation to test His marvelous powers. Yet, said the Prophet Abinadi, He "Yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffered himself to be mocked, and scourged, and east out, and disowned by his people." (See Mosiah 14:2-5)
