We are reminded by Abinadi's statement in these verses of the loss of the many books that formerly were part of Hebrew Scripture. Jewish editors, it is charged, have taken whole writings which pertained to Christ and expurgated them from what is now claimed by them to be theft Scriptures.
In this way believers in Yahweh (Jehovah) as the only true and living God are deprived of many prophecies concerning the coming of Christ, His atonement, and His resurrection.
