The arrogance and vanity of the priests were quickly turned into consternation as Abinadi, in defiance of the privileges given them by King Noah, reiterated to them the warnings he had previously made. He told them that the Lord was displeased with the wickedness abounding among them. Firmly he declared that the judgments of the Lord Omnipotent would be sorely visited upon them unless they repented without delay and turned to God who in times past had delivered their fathers. In their cross-examination of Abinadi they found no words of his that might condemn him. He uttered the truth, and he knew whereof he spoke. The sacred record says, "He did withstand them in all their questions, and did confound them in all their words."
