“The trial of Abinadi arose out of the words he spoke to the townspeople within the city of Nephi (Mosiah 12:1–17). … Two charges were to be leveled against Abinadi by the people: (1) that he had lied concerning the king and (2) that he had falsely prophesied evil about the people” (Welch, Legal Cases in the Book of Mormon, 151–58).
