The wicked and rebellious are bound with chains of their own forging. The legions of hell know no freedom. The course of servitude is the same for nations and individuals alike. As community sins bring community bondage, so personal sins bring personal bondage. We can no more obtain happiness and freedom by ignoring God and his commandments than we can reap a harvest from seeds scattered in the ocean.
