The disintegration of the Nephite civilization which Noah had promoted among his people was too big a temptation for the Lamanites. They found it easy to overcome the weak defenses which Noah had set up around the land. The Lamanites began waging widespread warfare against the Nephites and hauling away huge flocks of domestic animals as well as the possessions of the Nephites.
