“The Past Reviewed”

Monte S. Nyman

Ammon’s purpose in finding Limhi’s people was to know what had happened to them since they left Zarahemla (7:1). Fortunately they kept a record of their sojourn and Ammon was able to read it (v. 5). We will also be able to review an abridgment of this record in the following chapters. Limhi was exceedingly glad to learn that the people in Zarahemla were alive and well (7:14), and he undoubtedly wanted to know the condition of their relatives and friends. Ammon’s teaching of King Benjamin’s last words (v. 3) would certainly have been an incentive for Limhi and his people to seek their freedom.
