King Limhi continued the indictment of his people. So recently had they connived in the Prophet Abinadi's death that the circumstances of it were fresh in everyone's mind. Because he spoke boldly of their sins and called upon them to forsake their wicked ways, they became angry with him and caused him to be burned at the stake.
To show them the enormity of their wickedness, King Limhi set forth in detail many of the things Abinadi prophesied, and for these, he said, you have taken him and "put him to death." To excuse your blameworthy conduct you betook yourselves all manner of evil doings. "Therefore," he asked them, "who wondereth that they [we] are in bondage, and that they [we] are smitten with sore afflictions?"
