The people gathered as King Limhi had commanded, and he spoke words of comfort and courage to them. He told them that the time was coming and "is not far distant," when with joy they would cease to be tyrannized by their enemies, that in spite of the many vain struggles that they had made to escape their oppressive bondsmen, they now would be delivered, and that they would be set free from being the slaves of the Lamanites.
