Notice that Ammon took with him a man named Amaleki. This might well have been be a relative of the recorder named Amaleki whose brother had gone down to Lehi-Nephi with the second expedition and had never been heard of again. Amaleki, the recorder, had no children and had turned the entire Nephrite library -- including the plates of Nephi -- over to King Benjamin because Benjamin was so admired by all the people. We mentioned this in connection with Omni 1:30. We cannot help but imagine that the Amakeli who went down with Ammon in this present expedition was a name-sake of the recorder, perhaps even a relative.
Of course, Ammon and his three friends must have been excited to tell someone in authority who they were.
