“Through the Red Sea on Dry Ground”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

A second doctrinal point evident in what is otherwise simply story line is the reference to the children of Israel coming out of Egypt, their “walking through the Red Sea on dry ground,” being fed manna from heaven, and so forth (see verse 19). This is a significant corroboration of the veracity of the Old Testament story of the Exodus, also under assault by the scholarly world. It is presently popular to argue that Moses and his followers did not actually cross the Red Sea and that no real miracle of parting of the waters was necessary.
