Benjamin seals the new covenant upon the people. Their half of the covenant is to “be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works.” As they honor their obligations, Yahweh-Messiah—their spiritual father—will seal them up as his. They will bear his name and assume his attributes. Upon them he will bestow everlasting salvation and eternal life.
Text: This is the end of the quotation from Benjamin, and Mormon again ends a chapter. Although the sermon is over, the ceremonies are not, for the coronation has yet to follow. Mormon omits any description of this event. For his purposes, the really important actions have been recorded; the rest are merely historical details necessary to move the story along to the spiritually significant event.
