We will gain great knowledge by associating these words with those of the Apostle Paul:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? ...(Romans 10:9-15)
Paul teaches two great truths in these words; First, The authority by which men preach the Gospel of Christ-they must be sent. Second, that Salvation comes by serving Him, and to gain knowledge of Him is Eternal Life.
And again doth a man take an ass which belongeth to his neighbor, and keep him? To emphasize the point Benjamin has made, he compared the keeping of a strange ass, feeding it and caring for it, to looking after animals of one's own. He said, "He (meaning any man) will not even suffer that he (a strange ass) shall feed among the flocks, but will drive him away, and cast him out." It will be the same with the sheep of Israel's fold, and the renegade who scatters the flock. The Good Shepherd will not permit a wolf to enter in among His sheep. He will not leave them, but will make them "to lie down in green pastures, and will lead them "beside the still waters." They will follow Him, "for they know His voice," and from a stranger they will flee.
Again we remind you of the words of Alma which we quoted in verse twelve.
