What does it mean to be children of Christ?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Those who come unto Christ also enter into a spiritual child-parent relationship with him. They take upon themselves his name. … In this way, the concept of being born again suggests not only a change of heart but also the profound beginning of a new life—a parent-child relationship in which the child develops and grows toward the maturity of being like the parent. … The unlimited parental commitment the Savior feels for those who are in this sense his children is anchored deeply in the sacrifice of his Atonement” (Hafen and Hafen, Belonging Heart, 143–44).
