6. Birth is a beginning—the journey of faith lies ahead. It was never intended that those of the household of faith remain children forever, even children of Christ. When the members of the Church receive the ordinances of salvation and the live so as to enjoy the promptings, guidance, and sanctifying powers of the Holy Ghost; when they take upon themselves the name of Christ, forsake the ways of the world, and are born again into the family kingdom of their Savior and Redeemer -when they do these things they qualify themselves for richer and higher privileges and spiritual opportunities. They then receive the blessings of the temple, particularly the new and everlasting covenants will gain power to become the sons and daughters of God, meaning the Father. They become joint heirs or co-inheritors with Christ to all that the Father has: they are entitled to the blessings of the Firstborn... Wherefore, as it is written, they are gods, even the sons of God.“ (D&C 76:54, 58)”
