Charity is wise, acting according to principles of order and available resources. Nevertheless, charity is diligent—not giving up until the destination is reached. The same counsel is given to Joseph Smith in 1828 regarding the work of bringing forth the Book of Mormon: “Do not run faster or labor more than you have strength and means provided to enable you to translate; but be diligent unto the end” (D&C 10:4). We must plan well, organize every needful thing, count the cost in time and effort, and be charitable—then we will succeed.
