“If Ye Do This”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

In this verse King Benjamin reached one of the highest points in his address. The dignity of his words, the greatness of his spiritual understanding, the love he had for his people, prompted a benediction which came from his great heart. He promised them that "If ye do this" [the things outlined in verse 11] ye shall always rejoice; you will be filled with the love of God; your sins will be no longer counted against you; ye shall "grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you," which he likened to "the knowledge of that which is just and true."

This verse is so beautiful, Benjamin's promises so sure, that we, transported in our minds to the temple lot in Zarahemla, hear his words and resolve with his people to obey his voice. May we suggest that the entire verse be memorized.
