For Mormons, as for many other Christians, repentance is not simply a one-time affair. On the Christian journey, people will invariably stumble and fall as they attempt to live the Lord’s commandments. Repentance is necessary each time people sin or fall short of God’s teachings—which is, of course, daily. As in any close relationship, the apology that is sincere repentance restores the bond between the sinner and the one sinned against.
