King Benjamin knows he will soon die. He desires to finalize the magnifying of his stewardship as king. He did not want the responsibility of his subject’s sins upon his own head if he did not teach them the word of God (see Jacob 1:19). Therefore, he once more admonishes them to keep the commandments of God under their new king, his son Mosiah (Mosiah 2:30). The general results of keeping the commandments would be the same as under his reign: they would prosper in the land, and their enemies would have no power over them (v. 31). He then gives some warnings and admonitions.
