The account of the people of Zarahemla gathering for a meeting—a general conference—raises an interesting question of conscience. As we gather to our appointed Church meetings, what is the attitude we have in our hearts? Do we thank the Lord for having given us deliverance from our burdens—or at least the strength to overcome? Are we grateful for devoted teachers and leaders? Do we feel joy in the gospel and love for our fellowmen? When we bring our families together for family home evenings and family councils, do family members come with thanksgiving in their hearts? If so, then such Church and family meetings will be open to the guidance of the Lord.
