For his final “general conference” address, King Benjamin wanted his numerous people to go up to the temple, or as we would do in our day, go to the Conference Center, next door to the Salt Lake Temple. In the following chapters is one of the greatest sermons ever recorded. The discourse of King Benjamin is another splendid illustration of Joseph Smith’s declaration that “a man would get nearer to God by abiding by [the Book of Mormon’s] precepts, than by any other book.” 1
