King Benjamin, besides exhorting his sons to keep the Lord's commandments, testified to them of the truthfulness of the things written on them, (the Plates of Brass) and he further confirmed the truth of that which is contained upon the Plates of Nephi. "They are true," he said, "and we may know of their surety because we have them before our eyes." In other words, "We can see them; we can handle them, and now I will see to it that you receive all the learning and understanding necessary to know that they tell the truth." "Search them diligently, that ye may profit thereby"; "Keep the commandments of God, that ye may prosper in the land according to the promises which the Lord made unto our fathers." (2 Ne. 1:20)
