“Their Mouths Had Been Shut”
We would assume that the mouths of the false prophets were shut in the sense that these pretenders were exposed, their hypocrisy and malevolent motives discerned, and their words confounded by the Lord’s true agents and representatives. They were, no doubt, punished by legal means if their false philosophies led them or their adherents to violate the laws of the land.
