Now we come to the passage which suggests that Enos was extremely old by the time he came to the close of his ministry. Enos says he began to be old and could feel the approach of his end. He said that 179 years had passed since Lehi left Jerusalem, and this would bring us down to 420 B.C. Enos knew he must soon go down to the grave after a full lifetime of being wrought upon by the powers of God, which caused him to preach and prophesy among the people throughout his long life. This resulted in joy and satisfaction beyond anything which could come from the things of the world.
